Bersarin Quartett is one-man project from Münster, Germany founded by Thomas Bücker in 2006. The self-titled debut album was released February 2008 on Lidar Records. Aliases: Beats Beyond, Jean-Michel.

Bersarin Quartett's debut album paints with colors of deep hues, rich with vividness. No matter what sound he uses as his brush, Thomas sweeps across the canvas, covering the whole thing with one stroke. Opener Oktober sets the mood, perhaps the most string-centric song on the whole album, through gorgeous, open sections that sandwich a percussion-led section that grooves despite its stilted nature. While the song grows in volume, it never grows much in intensity, letting the mood and ambiance do all the work. From there, it seems as the album might be another pretty electronica album based in chamber classical music, albeit a very good one. But as Die Dinge sind nie so wie sie sind (roughly translated, things are not as they seem) notes,.

Bersarin Quartett is the solo project of Thomas Bücker, who for a while was hiding in the shadows under blank names in net-label releases Electronica Unplugged 1 (Aerotone, 2006) and its followup, Electronica Unplugged 2 (Aerotone, 2007). But digging deeper through a web of contributions and aliases, Bücker's discography reveals production work through an entire decade, when under the Jean-Michel moniker he released Marshmallow Rooms (Eleganz Records, 1999). Bersarin Quartett is easily one of the most underestimated ambient albums of 2008. The idea behind the music is not new (music for imaginary movies), but the elaboration is simply superb. Ranging from implicit ambient strings and spine chilling atmospheres to explicit references to violins and classical music, Bersarin Quartett simply has it all in the highest quality level.
