fazendo referência a Scheherazade, LP, Album, RE, RM, 200, AAPC 2446, LSC-2446. I can not see or hear the Quality, on the other hand mastering is excellent. Reiner was considered an . .hole from those who worked under him but the results he got may have been worth it. His version of Scheherazade leaves all others in the dust.

Album · 1996 · 12 Songs. Scheherazade, Op. 35 (Symphonic Suite after "A Thousand and One Nights"). Fritz Reiner, Sidney Harth & Chicago Symphony Orchestra. 1. The Sea and Sinbad's Ship. 2. The Story of the Kalender Prince.

Scheherazade, also commonly Sheherazade, Op. 35, is a symphonic suite composed by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov in 1888 and based on One Thousand and One Nights (also known as The Arabian Nights). This orchestral work combines two features typical of Russian music and of Rimsky-Korsakov in particular: dazzling, colorful orchestration and an interest in the East, which figured greatly in the history of Imperial Russia, as well as orientalism in general.

Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony, who also recorded three Bartok masterpieces for Living Stereo at about the same time, demonstrate that Rimsky-Korsakov's biggest hit is truly an outstanding "concerto for orchestra". This recording dates from February 8, 1960 yet sounds like it was made earlier this week. Maybe it has been over-programmed over the years, but only the most cold-hearted academic snob would dismiss such a riveting score as this. If music listeners were given more opportunities to hear Rimsky-Korsakov's Symphony "Antar" (unfortunately never recorded by Reiner and the Chicago SO), they would love it and demand it just as much as the ever-popular Scheherazade.
