This compilation is SO good it makes me almost weep with joy. 90s junglism at its very, very best. Just make sure you listen on a system good enough to do it justice. One of the best albums I own (including all the usual classics).
  • Oparae
I have this in the more recent CD release [edit: i didn't realise theCD came released with the vinyl!! - wish list added to...], and let me say that after many years of searching these gems having them on a single release was, for me, an awesome find. Big up Photek, big up Basement Phil and big up everyone else too.

Ive been collecting music for over 30 years being 45 years young and an original west london B-Boy ive heard a lot of music, from the days of grandmaster flash, Streetsounds Electro onwards into the club house music scene of the late 80s into Hardcore ive seen and heard it all, when Drum N Bass arrived to my ears it was as new to me at that time when i was twelve and heard electro Funk, so fresh and so new it turned into one of my greatest loves, I want to thank Basement Phil for re-pressing the Streetbeats/sentinel volumes as trying to get an original is as rare as finding rockinghorse S**t!! and this set of tunes by rupert parkes to me are some of the most technical and intelligent Drum n Bass tracks that were released there are others but these are no doubt Drum n bass hall of fame, if you don't have these in your collection grab them now while you can and the Price?.... does not matter they are beautifulyl presented sound incredible and yes the slipmatts are the Mutts nuts!!! and on CD too!!! what more can you ask for!!! Thanks to rupert Parkes for the beats and Thank you to Basement Phil for keeping vinyl alive and knowing his music and spotting Proper talent. i look forward and cant wait till the next Pressings of VOL 2 are released nuff Props to Basement Phil for allowing us the chance to own these pukka vinyls!!!
  • Danrad
It's simple. If you are a fan of Photek, or any of Rupert Parkes work, then you must own this amazing release. Thank you Basement Phil.
  • Arabella V.
Yup .... to all the moaners ..... what planet are you on? Same cut on 12" has more room than on a 10" so that means more detail and a little more volume. So happy this has been repressed to 12". BIG UP UR CHEST Phil Basement and of course the one they call the Photek. Sh1t like this makes the world a better place. Yush.
  • TheMoonix
I'm loving this recut, especially as it's on apple music, banging out my speakers for nothing :)
  • Yojin
Great way to show support, keep it up the artists love you for it.....
  • Shadowbourne
If your thinking on buying this ep then please do so i took the plunge and bought it and i must say value for money the slipmats are top notch! the tunes themselves are fab, to get hold of volume 1 2 and 3 you would be very hard pushed as collectors and music lovers do not want to sell. some of them are not even listed for sale. i would like to say a massive thank you for this superb gift set at the right price! i find the negative feedback do not do this repress justice, it is a great quality set and i'm more then happy to have this in my collection.
  • Bundis
No idea why some people are complaining about the price! Do you have any idea about the amount of energy, hard work, attention to detail, & money involved in pressing records, not to forget the full artwork & packaging here. The Truper projects has been put together with TOTAL heart & soul by Basement Phil. Anyone critising, why don't you try to put something like this together, just so you know how hard, expensive and intensive the process is in order to deliver a top quality product and above all, a now affordable set of jungle history records. Oi you naysayers sod off, you have little or no idea.

FrankieGunns Meanwhile here you are selling a copy of a record for 100 quid and someone else has a better condition copy for 8. Joker.http://www.discogs.com/sell/release/725019?ev=rb Obviois typo, when you're listing hundreds of records for sale mistakes are unfortunately inevitable.

BS - So BR has to charge £20 per 2 track vinyl to make a crust? Other labels manage to sell THEIR own music represses for less than £10 a slab.
  • fabscf
Great Music and I'm glad its been repressed but £20 per 2 track vinyl is a total piss take. I've supported the Basement Records sound for many years, but this hipster vinyl resurgence is bringing out the greediness in people who I thought understand and respected its loyal music fans. Shame on Basement.
  • Perdana
You realise that Rupert parkes will have got a decent cut from this right, which could well inspire him to release GOLD on us all. But negative crap like this is just like, hmmm couldnt quite afford it so im now resentful @ basement records. Grow up, Phil didnt force your money out your hand. Its ppl like you that put off artists from releasing their special shit. No more boi ya here me...,or ill throw a bloody truper vinyl at ya!! - For freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ;)
  • Lailace
Just ordered! Was going to be the only viable chance I had to own all three plates in good condition, and is a steal compared to even trying to buy 1 of each of the originals in playable state without selling everything I own to fund it. Fantastic project, big up to Phil and Basement Records for putting it together, and of course to Truper for the tunes. Can't wait for them to arrive :)
  • adventure time
100% in agreement with bellow ! Stunning represses here of some of Ruperts finest work! I can't believe some are questioning these ?! I have Two of the originals and have compared them over and over and the Represses come up trumps in my opinion they are Louder and Brighter without losing depth of sound.. Also a far supierour media to use 12inch rather than 10inch, ok that's just me personally but it's a big reason for them sounding so great as well. For years and years the originals have commanded big sums of money as only 250 of each 10inch was ever pressed up, it's only got worse In recent times as they become rarer and rarer because they are in the hands of people who are never likely to sell nowadays.. The way I see this is its Essential at £20 a plate it's a no brainer ! The Slips and the CD plus the excellent packaging is just an added bonus ???? Massive respect to Phillip Well and everyone involved with this project making the unthinkable happen and giving the chance for lovers of this great music, another bite of the cherry! SALUTE !!!!

I am lucky enough to have the 3 original Truper Street Beats 10" & the various Sentinel tunes on Basement too, bought them back in the day on vinyl. Can I please let everyone know that The Truper Projects, 3 X 12" sound quality is better than the originals! Phil Wells has been doing this since I was a teenager (That's a long time ago, ha ha) I know Phil and have done for years, he has always put artists, the pressing, quality etc etc first. Phil is a heart & soul person & has done nothing short of amazing things for the Jungle Drum & Bass scene since day dot. So many tracks & artists we love would never have happened without his help/support & in the case of Rupert Parkes financial assistance from Phil to make improvements to his studio. The Truper Projects is superb, amazing artwork/packaging, fantastic pressing & sound quality of the vinyl, excellent slipmats too. This is a brilliant & well thought out professional re-issue, & remember you get a crisper, louder, clearer sound on a 12" - that is why Phil did these as 12" rather than 10". Thank you Basement Phil - EXCELLENT AS ALWAYS. Over & Out.
  • Ximathewi
So chuffed I have volume 2 finally. Never thought I would see the day.
  • Kagrel
vinyl rips not from dats
  • Jox
my original vinyl of heavy vibes and awakenings sounds WAY better than this comp...most of the tracks are super squashed and have lost all their transients the truper stuff sounds better than the og vinyl though (vol 2 specifically)
  • Wishamac
Yes, I agree with this comment. The tunes on the CDs are ripped from vinyls that are not all of the highest quality. You can hear the odd pop and crackle during the tune. I haven't had chance to test them through a proper system, but in my experience vinyl rips tend to kick out a little less than digital recordings.
  • Alianyau
What's to be said other than a stunning collection of the best beats on the planet. big up Philip Well for this project.(re above the CD is loud & most people are more than happy with the vinyl it seems)
  • Villo
Loud and crisp, this is the real deal, the holy grail made available to all foot soldiers! Big ups to Basement Phil for making this possible, the search finally comes to an end!
  • Blackseeker
Have this test press set ????One of the lucky ones man !!All bad tunes Photek we miss you man so come back all is forgiven
  • Opilar
