One of the many great pianists who emigrated from Detroit, Lawson spent most of his career overshadowed, but he was an excellent hard bop-based player. Teamed with bassist Bob Cranshaw (heard on acoustic for a change) and drummer Ben Riley, Lawson performs two originals, a few obscurities, Clifford Jordan's "The Highest Mountain," Charles Mingus' "Duke Ellington's Sound of Love," "I Fall In Love Too Easily" and a brief rendition of Bud Powell's "I'll Keep Loving Yo.

Dave Clark's "Time" is a concept album based on Dave Clark's 1986 musical Time. It was released in vinyl as a double LP (Catalog number: AMPM 1, EQ 5003) and in cassette format. It sold over two million copies and spawned four hit singles, one by Julian Lennon and two by Cliff Richard. Another song, "In My Defence", became a posthumous hit for Freddie Mercury in 1992.

Variations: Viewing All Hugh Lawson. H. Lawson, Henry Lawson, Lawson.

Hugh Lawson: Prime Time. Hugh Lawson spent many years as a working and recording member of Yusef Lateef's excellent quartet and has also performed with the late Dinah Washington, Roy Eldridge, Kenny Burrell, Stanley Turrentine, Sonny Stitt and Charles Mingus among others. Also worthy of mention are his contributions to another excellent group, the Piano Choir, whose other members are also highly respected by many others in the jazz piano circle. This album is Hugh's first opportunity to record as a leader (1977)

Prime Time (Don McLean album). Prime Time is an album by American singer-songwriter Don McLean, released in December 1977. All tracks composed by Don McLean, except where indicated. The Wrong Thing to Do". "The Pattern Is Broken". Down the Road/Sally Ann". When a Good Thing Goes Bad".

HUGH LAWSON is a hard bop music artist. One of many talented Detroit pianists of the 1950s (although one of the lesser-known players), the Bud Powell-inspired Hugh Lawson first gained recognition for his work with Yusef Lateef during the late '50s. He recorded with Harry "Sweets" Edison (1962), Roy Brooks, and Lateef on several occasions in the 1960s.

About Hugh Lawson Trio. In 1972, he was with the Piano Choir (a group with seven pianists)
