Victoria De Los Angeles - Bachianas Brasileiras No.5, etc. download album
This album is part of a series of twenty must-have titles from the Warner Classics catalog, featuring their original and well-known iconic covers. In his nine Bachianas Brasileiras, written between 1930 and 1945, Heitor Villa-Lobos sought to fuse the soul of his native Brazil with the spirit of Johann Sebastian Bach, a composer he venerated. The collection contains five of the Bachianas Brasileiras, including the most famous, written for soprano and eight cellos, which features the delectably floating tones of Victoria de los Angeles. In N. we again have the lovely and quite unusual sound of the 8 cellos but this time backing the gorgeous voice of Victoria de los Angeles. The final two tracks have the Bachianas Brasileiras N. which exists in two versions - one is for a cappella choir and the other, recorded here, is for string orchestra.
Villa-Lobos: Bachianas brasileiras etc. Overview (current section). Bachianas Brasileiras No. 4: I. Prelúdio (Introdução): Lento - The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Set track as current obsession.
The album opens with two movements of perhaps the most famous of the suites, Bachianas No. 5. Soprano Victoria de Los Angeles is nothing short of stunning; by contrast, the orchestra of eight cellos, taken from the French Radio National Orchestra that accompanies her, is quite thin-sounding and unappealing. Later in the album, the cellos of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra perform the first movement of Bachianas No. 1 to far greater effect and with vastly superior sound quality
