Reggatta de Blanc is the second studio album by English rock band The Police, released on the second of October, 1979. It features the band's first two UK No. 1 hits: "Message in a Bottle" and "Walking on the Moon". It was their first album to reach No. 1 on the UK Album Charts.

'Reggatta de Blanc' was actually a stage jam from the middle of 'Can't Stand Losing You' that eventually solidified into a new piece. Stewart Copeland: Revolver, 4/00. Stewart Copeland: Trouser Press, 12/79. Reggatta de Blanc took us three weeks to record. We just went into the studio and said 'right, who's got the first song!' We hadn't even rehearsed them before we went i.

Produced by The Police & Nigel Gray. Album Reggatta de Blanc. Reggatta de Blanc Lyrics. About Reggatta de Blanc. The title track on 1979’s Reggatta de Blanc, elements of jazz improvisation and scat singing, reggae rhythm and bass, and punk attitude are infused into a three minute rocker. Though never released as a single, the song earned The Police their first Grammy award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 1980

Reggatta De Blanc’ marked the moment where The Police synthesised their influences into something unique, becoming one of the biggest bands on the planet. Published on. November 23, 2018. However, it was their transcendent second album, Reggatta De Blanc, that turned them into one of the post-punk era’s defining bands. Originally released on 2 October 1979, Reggatta De Blanc again sported a mysterious, pseudo-French title, which loosely translated as white reggae : a label journalists attempted to pin on The Police after their initial hits ‘Roxanne’ and ‘Can’t Stand Losing You’ skilfully melded the stridency of punk and the joyful bounce of reggae. Listen to Reggatta De Blanc right now.

The first three Police albums, Outlandos d'Amour, Reggatta de Blanc, and Zenyatta Mondatta, were named by their manager, Miles Copeland (Police drummer Stewart Copeland's brother), using words he made up. "Reggatta de Blanc" is the only one that is also the name of a song. The fourth and fifth Police albums got away from this naming convention and were titled by Sting: Ghost in the Machine and Synchronicity. When it came time to record their second album, they turned this jam into its own song and made it the title track. More songs from The Police. More songs that start with a count-in.
