Future Perfect was first released on Autolux’s first EP, Demonstration. Another completely different version of the song was released the same year on the Silver Demo, aka Six Songs. It wasn’t on its namesake album Future Perfect, nor was it on Transit Transit. A final version was finally released on Pussy’s Dead in April of 2016, now labelled Change My Head. Future Perfect" Track Info.
It's not until "Sugarless"- 15 minutes into Future Perfect - that Autolux veer slightly and strangely away from relentless noise-pop. That said, the album sounds like the work of a band that has been in suspended animation for the past five years, hidden away from the torrent of the new wave revival and the reutn of disco as a viable rock touchstone. Azar, Edwards, and Goreshter now emerge from their slumber, preserved and prepared, ready to scorch the earth with their afterburn.
The future perfect is a grammatical construction. Future perfect can also refer to: Future Perfect (Autolux album) (2004). Future Perfect (Loadstar album) (2013). Future Perfect (video game), in development. Future Perfect (book), by Steven Johnson (2012). Futureperfect, a 2002 album by VNV Nation. TimeSplitters Future Perfect, a 2005 video game developed by Free Radical Design. Future Perfect, a section of Vox launched in 2018 to cover effective altruism.
Future Perfect and Transit Transit are equals in my mind. See them play, get the other album and delve right in if you can relate to the vibe this album sends throughout the world. Future Perfect stands before you today as one of the very best records of 2004. For any fan of alternative noise rock, art rock, space rock, shoegaze, or any other blanket genre classification, Future Perfect is a must-have. As Autolux's debut and only LP, it's a great (and the only) place to start for a newcomer to the band. Autolux has an incredibly appealing and original style, using sparse instrumentation, spacious reverb on the guitars and drums, and ample noise to create a very signature sound.

Admittedly, I begrudgingly allowed myself the full listen of Future Perfect and set it aside (so to speak) for the time being. Fortunately for me I did in fact give this album more than the one listen and, more and more, I found myself not only capable of enjoying this but needing to listen to it often. Perhaps time permitted all preconceived notions, unintentional and subconscious as they may have been, to fade away and allow me to really appreciate the album
