Folklore is the 4th studio album by 16 Horsepower, released in 2002. As hinted to by its name, most of the material on the album is drawn from traditional folk music. Only four of the songs ("Hutterite Mile," "Blessed Persistence," "Beyond the Pale" and "Flutter") on the album are original 16 Horsepower compositions. All tracks written by 16 Horsepower and David Eugene Edwards except where noted. Folklore at Metacritic.

Folklore (Nelly Furtado album). Folklore is the second studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado. It was released on 23 November 2003 through DreamWorks Records. While the album did not match the success of her previous album in such markets as the United States and Australia, it did however become a success in several European countries. And that's the problem with Folklore: though it surely has impressive moments, the album is a self-conscious, somber affair that takes itself far too seriously. At this point, Furtado's Achilles' heel is that she doesn't see a world outside herself. While there's a certain truth to the old axiom "write what you know," she, like many of her peers, takes this credo to extremes, believing that every emotional fluctuation she had in the aftermath of her mild stardom can make for a captivating album.
Muffin Man" is a song recorded live by Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention. It appears on his 1975 mostly live album Bongo Fury made with Captain Beefheart (Don Van Vliet). The song begins with studio-recorded spoken word lyrics delivered by Zappa and is followed by the chorus. The song was inspired by the traditional nursery rhyme, The Muffin Man. The song closes the album, as well as the compilation Strictly Commercial, and was also used as a finale in concerts for many years afterwards

The album starts with the powerful title track, that along with East Coast Racer from EE2, might be the best album opener they have recorded. The song tells about the stories that have been passed down from generations, setting the stage for the different tales that are told in each subsequent track. Not known for their uptempo rock tracks, with this one, they hit the mark. The opening strings and horns play a beautiful melody and provide a welcome to the Irish-influenced rhythm and flute arrangements.
